Time off for the Holiday

Hey everyone!

Sorry I've been so negligent in posting on my blog.  During the school year, it's difficult to find the time to write.  So since I'm off for the week, I thought I'd take some of my free time to put words to paper or computer actually.
Now the trick is to find all of that free time because while I'm off I also want to get a few things done.  So I'll get back to writing after I clean all the tile floor, shampoo the carpet, drop my car off to be worked on, clean out the closets and kitchen cabinets, cook dinner every night, decorate the house for Christmas, take Gracie to the groomer, and spend quality time with the family.  No problem!  That should leave me plenty of time to write.  Right?
I have made some progress with my writing.  I just sent the final edits for Taint Book 2 in The Unloveable Series back to my publisher.  I've got a shifter book a third of the way written, a fourth book in The Teacher Series half written (which I'll probably never finish), the outline for Trust Book 3 in The Unloveable Series outlined, and a new Highlander Book outlined.
I've wrestled with which book I should focus on but thankfully the decision was made for me.  Highlander Ewan and Cate have been screaming the loudest in my head so their story will be written first.  Now I just need to actually get their story in the computer.  Piece of cake!
I wish all of you a happy and safe holiday!

Fall into Romance Blog Hop

Welcome and thanks for stopping by my blog.  I'm excited to a part of this hop.  I'm not just a romance author, I'm also a huge romance reader.  When I saw all of the great authors involved in this hop, I had to be a part of it.  I write contemporary and historical romantic suspense but I love to read a wide variety of romance genres.  As a superfan, I love to keep up on my favorite authors' new releases so I spend a lot of time on their Facebook pages and blogs.  There's just nothing like getting excited about a book being released.  I'm giddy with anticipation for one of my favorite author's release next week.  I've been known to stay up past midnight, so I can start reading a new book as soon as it downloads.  It's terribly difficult to wake up the next morning, but it's totally worth it!  How many of you do the same thing?  Enjoy all the fabulous authors on this blog hop.

Stop by my Facebook page and leave a message to enter to win an e-copy of my latest release, The Highlander's Treasure.  While you're there, like my page so you'll know when I release a new book.

Author, Jennifer Wilck is my guest today.

Congratulations on your latest release, Miriam's Surrender!

Thanks so much, Michelle, for hosting me today and helping me to promote my newest release, Miriam’s Surrender. I’m very excited to announce the second book in my Women of Valor series, but want to reassure you that it can easily be read on its own. I hope you enjoy it and welcome comments!

Josh Lowenstein is a successful architect, hired to redesign the alumni club of a posh, private school in New York. He is strong, capable and knows the best way to do everything. Except let another woman in.
Miriam Goldberg is the Assistant Director of Outreach, and is Josh’s day-to-day contact for the redesign. She’s taken care of everyone around her, and forgotten how to let someone else take care of her.
With a tumultuous history, neither one is prepared to work together. As they get to know each other, the animosity disappears, but Josh is hiding something from Miriam and its discovery has the possibility of destroying their relationship. Only when they are both able to let the other in, and release some of the control they exert over everything, will they be able to see if their love can survive.

Here's an excerpt from Miriam's Surrender.

Josh sat in the cab and looked out the window. Lights and people and cars and buildings rushed by in a blur. His eyes glazed over and in their place Miriam appeared. Miriam touching his arm and reassuring him, Miriam smiling, Miriam’s hair shining, Miriam looking at him as he bent to kiss her.
Whatever made him do it? When they’d stood outside her apartment in the cold night air, her cheeks had turned pink from the cold. He smiled. She controlled so many of her outward reactions to things, but she couldn’t control that one.
From his height and angle, he’d watched the light from the street lamps shine on her hair, making it appear to glow. Their breath, a white fog, had intermingled as they stood facing each other.
Her lips were soft and plump. He’d spent the evening watching them mold words, stretch into a smile, surround her food as she chewed. He couldn’t help himself; he’d wanted to kiss her. It was the briefest wish. He’d made the slightest move toward her. But in the one too-brief second, he’d glimpsed much more. Her pupils had dilated, she’d raised her face to his and she’d parted her lips. He’d discovered Miriam’s desire.

And now he knew she wanted him, it would take all of his control not to give in to his own need.

As an adult, she started writing them down and after several years of writing, editing and querying publishers, she’s a multi-published author. When she’s not writing, she loves spending time with her family and friends, reading, traveling and watching TV. She volunteers with her Temple and is also a freelance writer for magazines, newspapers and newsletters.
A Heart of Little Faith and Skin Deep were published by Whiskey Creek Press in 2011. The Seduction of Esther, the first in the Women of Valor series, was published in June 2013 by Rebel Ink Press. Hey everyone!

Indie Mashup in Arkansas

Hey everyone!

I spent the weekend in Rogers, Arkansas at the Indie Mashup hosted by This Redhead Loves Books.  My daughter, Jessie, and my son, Nate, went with me to help set up.  We had a great time!  I had the pleasure to meet a lot of talented authors and very attractive models.  I shared a table with Best Selling Author, Jennifer Theriot.  What a nice lady and fellow Texan.  I can't wait to go to the Houston Mashup on August 15th and 16th!

I have a new series called The Unlovable Series coming out this fall.  Abandon, the first book in the series, will be released Oct. 10th and I just got a sneak peek at the cover, and it's hot!  I'll share more about The Unlovable Series soon.

The Highlander's Treasure released!

Hey everyone!

I'm so excited that my historic romance novel, The Highlander's Treasure was released today.  I'm such a huge fan of Highlander books that I wanted to write one.  This book is actually the very first book I ever wrote and will always have a special place in my heart.  I hope that everyone enjoys reading it as much as I did writing it.
I'm also thrilled to be going to Rodgers, Arkansas to be a part of the Indie Mashup hosted by This Red Head Loves Books.  I'm as excited to meet the other authors as I am to be one of the authors.  I don't think it's a secret that I'm a romance novel addict, and I've read many books by some of the authors that will be there.  Another reason I'm excited is my son and daughter will be going with me!  It's not often that my 20 and 17 year olds want to do anything together, so I'm thrilled they are giving up their time to go with me.
Book Cover Diva designed a sign for me to take to the mashup.  Isn't gorgeous?

Welcome Denisea Kampe author of....

Twenty-seven years, more than a dozen deployments, five kids…and one missing wife.

After twenty-seven years of marriage and service to his country, Gavin McIntyre returns from what he hopes will be his last deployment before either reaching the highest attainable enlisted rank in the Marine Corps or retiring. But what he returns to leaves him flat aback with a busted mast and broken rudder. His wife is a no show for the homecoming. Using the ages old adage of improvise, adapt, and overcome, he makes his way home only to discover, she hasn’t simply forgotten to pick him up from the bus, she’s gone. In her wake, Gavin finds his home set up boot camp style and twenty dollars in the cookie jar, but any evidence he’s ever had a wife or five children with her is deplete.

Pregnant at sixteen and married to a marine in a less than romantic ceremony courtesy of the local Justice, Raylyn McIntyre has spent almost three decades playing the dutiful patriotic wife, catering to the whims of the military. She’s lost track of how many places she’s lived, how many deployments she’s endured, and how many tears she’s shed. But most of all, she’s lost track of herself. With a husband who’s so wrapped up in saving the world he can’t see he’s losing his family, Ray resorts to the one tactic he might understand…a full frontal attack with extreme prejudice, which proves to get Gavin’s waning attention.

Nothing good ever comes easy, though, and just when her choice of battle plan seems to be working, tragedy befalls their family. As Ray and Gavin struggle to find center, they also struggle with the notion that forgiveness of self is often the only path to forgiveness of another, and that path is not only bumpy but filled with pitfalls.

 Here's a sneak peek of Denisea's book

The only thing in the front room was his well-worn American Leather recliner Ray had purchased from Cabot House as his welcome home gift two years ago and his fifty-two inch flat screen which still hung on the opposite wall. Everything else was gone. No rugs, no couch with Ray’s sewing basket sitting at the end, no family portraits on the walls. Gone. It was all gone.

Stark realization raced through Gavin’s veins as a ball of ice formed in the pit of his gut. His wife wasn’t just UA.

Ray had left him.

With his mouth hanging open, Gavin spun a couple of circles. How had he missed this? Things were fine the last time he talked to her. Weren’t they? She seemed fine. She was her usual chipper self, all happy news, no tears. He could hear the smile in her voice.

How had they gone from that to this?

“Hey, I don’t have all day,” the driver’s voice snipped from the doorway. Still in a daze, Gavin turned to stare at him. “Kind of a big house for just you and your chair, ain’t it?”

“Yeah, it is,” Gavin ground out.

“Look, I can see you’re having one of those days, but I need my money. I got other fares.”

“Right.” Sliding his pack off his shoulder, Gavin let it hit the slick hardwood floor, which was usually polished to a fine hue but now lay dull and dusty, with a hollow thump. How long had she been gone?

Gavin made his way down the hall which led to the kitchen and dining area to find those rooms in the same condition as the front room, nearly empty. Where their heirloom oak table which would seat twelve in a pinch used to sit was a fold out card table and one metal chair. The kitchen counters were bare save his Bulldog DI cookie jar which was set in the middle of the island with a note tucked beneath. Snatching it up, Gavin scanned it with one thought in mind. Maybe it would reveal Ray’s whereabouts.

Your Oreos are inside along with forty bucks to cover your cab.

Born and raised in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains, Denisea Kampe was spinning tales before she could even spell and once her sixth grade creative writing teacher encouraged her by leaving a most prophetic comment on one of her assignments, the wheels of destiny were set in motion. But those wheels would need greased again and again as her writing would take a back seat to life and her jobs of mom and wife many times over before she’d finally see her dream of becoming a published writer come to fruition in 2010. Denisea is a military wife who’s traveled the world over. She’s lived in four states and Okinawa Japan and held more drivers’ licenses than she can count. Her nest is empty save one furry and quite mischievous Siberian Husky and one spoiled rotten Rat Terrier mix. Denisea takes much of her inspiration for her heroes from the marines she’s lived around since marrying her very own fairy tale prince in dusty cammies. Coining the term realmantica, she strives to produce quality romance in a realistic setting. Her genre of choice is contemporary romance and when she’s not writing, she enjoys reading everything she can get her hands on, trips to the museum, taking field research trips, crafting, and sewing. Her works include One Tear, The Executive Officer’s Wife, Private Pirouette, and the Slower Lower series. Denisea loves to hear from her readers and can be found at deniseakampe.blogspot.com

Is it summer break yet?

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I've posted a blog.  This is the crazy time of year in education because we're preparing students for and administering state academic testing, so I've purposely backed off some other things like blogging.
Parental Involvement, Book 3 in The Teacher Series will be released on May 3rd!
I currently have three projects started, but I probably won't find the time to finish them until school is out.  I'm writing book 4 in The Teacher Series, a paranormal/shifter romance, and a serious contemporary romance.  I'm not sure I can pull off a story without humor but I'm trying.
I'm really excited about going to the Springdale Arkansas and Houston Texas Indie Author Mashups.  Not only will I get to meet some of my favorite authors but I'll also get a chance to interact with readers.

Bye for now!

Spring Fling Blog Hop

I think every season is perfect for romance or at least romance novels.  I'm not just an author, I'm a romance junkie.  My to-be-read list is longer than my grocery receipt, but I don't mind because I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I didn't have a book to read.
I'm the author of The Teacher Series.  Book 1 and 2 have already been released and book 3 comes out May 3rd.  I combined three of my loves: teaching, writing, and comedy.
If you get a chance, like my Facebook page and then leave a message with your address.  I'd love to send you some swag.

I'm giving away an e-book of Lessons Book 2 in The Teacher Series.  All you have to do is leave a comment with the name of your favorite teacher and you'll be entered to win.

Detective Dane Thompson of the Fort Worth Police Department is the ultimate ladies’ man who hasn’t met a woman worth keeping.

March Madness

Hey everyone!

March is crazy busy for me.  I'm trying a different marketing approach in hopes it will boost sales.  I'm posting on other people's blogs, hosting a Facebook author takeover, participating in a couple Facebook events, I'm a stop on a blog hop, and I'm dropping off swag at a local independent book store.  I almost forgot that I'm also writing two books simultaneously.  Whew, that's a lot for an old woman!  Each event will be posted on Facebook so everyone can find Michelle instead of Waldo.

I've taken a leap of faith by requesting a couple of bloggers review Lessons.  I'm still so insecure about my writing.  I'm going to do my best not to worry while I wait for their reviews.

For all my fellow teachers out there, enjoy your spring break because it's a long stretch to the end of the year.

Bye for now.

Welcome CL Parks author of She Who Hunts

Character Interview by CL Parks

·         I asked my characters Tenna Massey and Jason Longknife to join us today. After much persuading they agreed. Thanks for joining us guys.

·         Tenna – Hey. Jason - How long will this take?

·         I’m sorry, I know you guys are busy lately. We’ve recently been told about your fight with the demons possessing humans in the area. What can you tell us about this phenomenon?

·         *Tenna looks at Jason and shrugs* Tenna – That’s kind of a vague question. What exactly do you want to know?

·         Sorry. Can you tell us how something like that happens?

·         Jason – Not really. It’s not like the demons have a brochure out about how they take over human bodies.

·         Tenna – I think she means about the recent onslaught. Is that what you’re asking?

·         Yeah. It seems like it’s been happening more lately. Do you think there’s a reason behind this?

·         Tenna – It doesn’t help that I’ve decided to become a Hunter. They’ve always had a vendetta against me, and now I’m out killing them.

·         Jason – Tenna.

·         Tenna – What? I didn’t say anything you wouldn’t have.

·         Jason – Look, it seems like it’s happening more lately because of all the news coverage. It seems like nothing is kept a secret anymore.

·         Tenna – Yeah, with social networks covering things the second it happens it’s kind of hard to cover up a slaughter.

·         Um, yeah. I guess it would be. Can you tell us a little about your relationship?

·         Jason – I’d rather not.

·         Tenna – Dude, you’re blushing. Actually, our relationship is still growing. I mean, you see how hot he is, so it’s hard not to be attracted to him. But honestly he’s just a really good guy. Well, I guess the demons wouldn’t agree.

·         Jason – You’re twisted.

·         Tenna – And you love it.

·         So you two admit there is a relationship budding between you?

·         Tenna – It’s not like we can go out and date like the rest of you. Between constant murders, demons trying to kill me, and the death of people we love we take whatever moments we can get together.

·         I was told there was a prophecy about the two of you. Is this true?

Jason – There’s a prophecy about her.

What about the part about her soul mate being a Skinwalker?

Tenna – Yeah, that’s in there, too.

He thinks it’s him. Do you?

Tenna – I hope so.

Jason – Thanks.

Your story is hitting the shelves on March 3. How do you two feel about that?

Jason – I’d prefer to keep our lives secret, but it’s nice to know someone is actually paying attention. Hell, if it helps save a few lives then I guess it’s worth it.

How do you mean save a few lives? If someone is possessed wouldn’t you just call a priest?

*both laugh* Tenna – No, it’s not that easy. If someone becomes possessed the only way to free their soul from the demon and send the demon back to Hell is by killing the host. In other words, if you become possessed I’ll have to shove my sword through your heart or you’ll be in the grips of the demon for eternity.

What about your husband?

Tenna – What about him?

Will you kill him?

Jason – She’ll do what’s necessary.

Tenna – I’ll do what it takes to save his soul, if that’s what you’re asking.

You don’t seem too happy about that?

Tenna – Would you be? Are we done?

I’m sorry I upset you. I look forward to reading your story She Who Hunts. Thanks again for joining us.

About the Author

CL Parks has had a passion for writing since reading Charlotte’s Web in kindergarten. After rewriting the ending to gift Charlotte with immortal life she became obsessed. Her tastes quickly moved from sweet and innocent to the supernatural after reading Stephen King in fifth grade. Since the moment she picked up Pet Semetary she devoured every supernatural and preternatural book she could get her hands on by authors ranging from Anne Rice to Stephanie Rowe.

When not fully engulfed in the latest release or typing away at her newest novel you can find her corralling her chickens, playing with her dogs, spoiling her large lizard or sewing a new vintage inspired dress. Her dream is to travel the country in an RV with her husband while writing more books…after the kids have gone on to college, of course.

Book Signing

Hey everyone!

I had a great time at my first book signing.  I got to catch up with some friends that I hadn't seen in a while and my family took me out afterward to celebrate.  Over all I had a great time!  I've included some pictures.

Bye for now.
